The Pathetic Sharks Rash vests are being pinted today, we will have 10 mediums and 10 large. The cost of a rashie is £30 at the moment but if we have enough demand and do a second batch the cost could come down.
Just a quick heads up that the Pathetic Sharks will again be heading to El Tur with the Oceansource gang in late June next year!
As those who came this year discovered, EL Tur is a fantastic location for nailing those elusive gybes, tacks and other fiddly turny manouveres, and the nearby wave beach is a great place for anyone able or wanting to get out in the bumpy stuff!
So there I was, sat in the pub with Grumpf discussing all manner of business grumbles after he’d sent his yachty mate off. One by one Forumites arrived, Windy Ken impressively bringing a boom with him! Loved to have seen how he got that on the train!
Grumpf duly emptied his sack, telling us he wanted to give us a present we couldn’t use next year - a wallet! The white wallet, which was very gay, was duly named iWallet and had the whip put in it! And so the evening entered its somewhat pissed up phase. Nick brought a load of VHSs which where strewn all over the table. I found the UKWA wave championship 2002 the most exciting but couldn’t fit it in my iPhone for some reason. Around this time Grumpf had gone over to chat up the Keira Knightly impersonator in the corner which led to a lot finger pointing from both groups. I did feel he was grooming her, at least that’s what it looks like from my seat!
Anyway I had a ball and Seanbo split his pants!
Since the next bash - on Wednesday 3rd December - will be the Christmas one (and therefore the last one of the year), let’s try to make it a bumper get together.
Weathercam and Grumpf have come up before and hopefully they’ll make this one, and we had people coming from far and wide when we put on the screening of The Windsurfing Movie last Spring, so let’s try to get as many of us together as possible this time around. Maybe some of the guys from the magazine could make it, Ed & Gregg from Oceansource, some of the Guru’s if they’re in the country - and the elusive lesser spotted Basher might be enticed to travel up from Brighton with Pat and co? Plus the many forum lurkers - come and show your faces!
So complete with fancy logo the website is up and running. Here’s hoping that there will be much banter and amusement to be had!
If you check back from time to time we’ll be adding new features, such as video, as we go along. Please feel welcome to leave comments on any of the articles posted by any of the pathetic sharks
We are the pathetic sharks! A bunch of windsurfers who, frankly, aren’t very good and decided to do something about it.
Originally named "The Carve Club" the group was formed on the Boards Magazine forum by the founding father, Nick. After an inaugural meeting at Hayling Island on a cold January day a trip to Oceansource in El Tur, Egypt was orgainised. The huge success of this trip has triggered a will for more as more members join up and more trips organised! The next trip is set for Club Margarita in Venezuela in March 2008
